Antique Sterling Silver Religious Temperance Men of Kent Lodge Medallion Medal

Antique British sterling silver Temperance medallion. Beautifully chased and ornately decorated this presentation medallion was made in London (Leopards head) in 1894 (T year letter) from sterling silver (lion passant) by the unidentified makers(EH). The Men of Kent is a fraternal order associated with Temperance Anglo Saxon Protestants. The star shaped medal depicts a phoenix rising from the fire in its center which represents resurrection and rebirth into a new life without alcohol. This piece was originally meant to be worn on a ribbon as suggested by the clasp.
