Antique Carved Wooden Harvest Female Sculpture
Antique wooden carved sculpture. Depicting a female figure head facing towards the right. She is wearing a turban, an open toga style garment and has decorative apparel of a shield, two thrashers and two drums underneath. This decorative imagery is indicative of the 18th century which celebrated the harvest and its place in classical antiquities. This wooden sculpture was most likely a corbel on a large decorative piece of furniture or house fixture in the 18th or 19th century, perhaps of an industrious landowner, hence the harvest connotations. This decorative sculpture appears to be made from a dark stained walnut which was typical of the period.
A fabulous addition to your retro home deco or a great housewarming gift idea.
Wood carving measures 13.5" tall by 4.5" wide by 3.25" deep and weighs 1lb 2oz.
