Buying and selling antiques requires a real commitment to finding treasures. We spend most of our weekends head first in estate sales, auction houses and flea markets. I thought it might be helpful to put together a little summary of our favorite flea markets in the Los Angeles area. Pasadena City College
When: 1st Sunday of every month
Address for GPS: 1570 E. Colorado Blvd., Pasadena, CA 91106
Admission times: 8am - 3pm (sellers start setting up from 5am)

Pros: free entry, large variety of vendors, large indoor section, street parking free, more reasonable pricing (due to lower vendor fees), the proceeds from vendors benefit student scholarships & activities, good toilet facilities
Cons: street parking can be limited, indoor garage shopping section can feel a little claustrophobic
Tips: Park on Bonnie Street, bring water, bring cash
Rosebowl
When: 2nd Sunday of every month
Address for GPS: 1001 Rose Bowl Dr, Pasadena, CA 91103
Admission times: 5am - 4.30pm
Cost of entry: Varies according to times below:
5am - 7am: $20
7am - 8am: $15
8am - 9am: $12
from 9am: $9

Pros: great location, huge number of vendors, good food choices, family friendly, easy free parking, nice mix of antiques, vintage & handmade, decent toilet facilities
Cons: expensive entry fee, not dog friendly, very hot in the summer, vendors tend to charge more here than at other sales due to very high vendor costs
Tips: come right at 9am to avoid the higher entry cost, wear sunscreen in the summer and bring cash and plenty of water
Long Beach
When: 3rd Sunday of every month

5.30am - 6.30am: $12
after 6.30am: $6

Cons: there are almost too many sellers to get around :),

Glendale Community College
When: 3rd Sunday of every month

Cons: small number of vendors, porta potties, many vendors leave before 1pm

Cons: small number of sellers, items can be over-priced,

Topanga Vintage Market:
When: 4th Sunday of every month

Admission times: 8am - 3pm
Cost of entry: $3 admission; kids 12 and under free, Veterans free

Pros: great private setting, convenient free parking, 160+ vendors, live music, nice atmosphere
Cons: not dog friendly, unless you live close by it is out of the way,
Tips: eat before coming or bring food as food trucks are pricey, come early to avoid the heat, bring water, bring cash
Melrose Trading Post:
When: Every Sunday

Cons: limited antiques, mostly newer handmade & vintage
Tips: find parking on the street, bring cash, hat & water
Ventura
When: 6 times a year (see website below for dates)

Pros: free parking, nice toilet facilities, tasty food options, amazing setting by the ocean, close to shops, 500+ vendors
Cons: long drive from LA, can be very windy
Tips: check out the smaller flea market at this location every Wednesday from 6am - 1pm
